I was, for many years, a gypsy. This costume consisted of wearing my mom's old hippy skirt, lots of jewelry and red lipstick. I don't know if the other kids knew I was a gypsy but I thought I was something special. What's your favorite childhood costume? Or maybe you've invented a cool costume as an adult?

Every year, my brother and sisters and I would dress up and trek down to the local bank where a costume contest took place.
I won a prize the year my mom dress me as an old lady with a dress, sweater, grey wig and creepy clear old lady-ish mask -- and pillow to help thrust my behind out while walking with my cane.
The next year, I wanted to make my own costume and I worked for weeks designing, painting and detailing a cardboard box to resemble the old-time McDonald's garbage cans -- square white with golden triangular top,the arches painted on the front and "Thank You" on the flap. It was so authentic that I even had some guy leaning on me till I tried to move and he realized it was my costume.
As I proudly paraded with my age group past the judges, I heard one of them say, "No kid could have made that" and I was disqualified. I think I went as an old lady again the next year...

Batman costume is my all time favorite.
A devil, with a red outfit
A devil, with a red outfit my mom made, horns crafted by an uncle, red tights and a super makeup job and a tail that I could move with my hand.
