Mystic Lake Casino Hotel will host Minnesota’s largest Guitar Hero III competition on Saturday, June 7.
“We are inviting anyone and everyone with an inner rock star to come out and compete in this free Guitar Hero tournament,” said Bryan Prettyman, vice president of marketing for Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. “The ‘Rock the Lake’ tournament not only gives our guests the opportunity to win cash and prizes, but also the chance to rock out on the same stage as rock legends Kansas, Rick Springfield, The Doobie Brothers and Ringo Starr.”

I NEED to go to Star Party
Submitted by LoriC on May 6, 2008 - 12:34pm.If someone knows how I can get tickets to KDWB's Star Party without either having to exacerbate the tendinitis in my dialing thumb or paying $150 for these "free" tickets on Craigslist, let me know.
I actually got through and got the correct answers for one contest this morning. They took my name, asked me for the answers, told me they were correct, then promptly put me on hold and then came back and said they already got a winner. Huh? Then why did they bother with me?

Episode 23 - There will be blood
Submitted by brian on May 1, 2008 - 3:40pm.If you like blood, then I have something especially for you. Dexter (Sundays at 9 PM on CBS) may be the best thing to air on network television this year. It did so only because of the now-settled writer's strike and had already aired on cable movie channel Showtime and I see that as a blessing.

More Trash or Treasure
Submitted by Cre8tivegang on May 1, 2008 - 7:24am.Before you visit garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets, antique malls, estate sales and auctions for pieces to transform, clear out your own spaces to see what you can discover.
Start a mosaic tile treasure chest with the "bits n' pieces" you already have. Save broken dishes, jewelry, keys, small toys, game pieces and glass figurines.

A Droid of a Different Color
Submitted by Adam Pulchinski on April 30, 2008 - 5:23pm.Being a nerd (I promise I'll stop opening with that one of these days) I patrol various websites that are related to my "field of study". There are more than one of these sites dedicated to various aspects of George Lucas' Star Wars Saga.
Not long ago on one site that has to do primarily with collecting memorabilia (www.rebelscum.com)- I came upon an article about a special action figure that was floating about out there. It was basically a pink version of R2-D2 that has quite a back story and carries the moniker of R2-KT.

I drink your milkshake!
Submitted by LoriC on April 28, 2008 - 12:50pm.I finally got to see "There Will Be Blood" this weekend. Best movie I've seen in a long, long, long, long time.
It's the kind of movie that doesn't get made much anymore - great acting, original storyline, fantastic cinematography, well-placed but not overdone musical score, etc.
Daniel Day-Lewis tops even himself in this one. A must-see, an instant classic.
Oh, and I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE! (My husband got really tired of hearing me repeat this phrase dramatically over the weekend).

Put your best face forward
Submitted by Melissa Gilman on April 25, 2008 - 11:18am.
I felt so crummy this week that putting on makeup seemed silly. But I won't be singing "I Feel Pretty" anytime soon. You get used to seeing yourself a certain way, say, without undereye circles and with visible eyebrows. So when I go nude, facially speaking, I feel I look less than ideal. It makes me wonder: If a dab of lipstick and a sweep of mascara make me look bright-eyed, wouldn't it do the same for my male coworkers?

Sound Off: Minnesota music
Submitted by BakerBlog on April 24, 2008 - 12:52pm.Minnesota is arguably as melodious as any state in the union. Over the years, it has produced almost as many great musicians and bands as it has lakes – and the variety is as diverse as the weather.

Attack of the flu
Submitted by Melissa Gilman on April 22, 2008 - 11:27am.It tiptoed into my immune system with little warning, striking on a sunny Monday afternoon. The flu or some disgusting cousin of it, knocked me out and left me lying in bed listening to traffic, blinds being blown against the window and incessant cooing from a pair of doves. Even when I heard the pitter patter of raindrops I didn't have enough energy to go outside and roll up my car windows. I'm on the Sprite and Saltines diet and looking for a magic cure. Any ideas for a rapid recovery?
