I was talking to my mom the other day and asked her if she heard during the 1970s was swinging going on.
Matter of fact from a neighbor who asked her, if she was interested in being in a swingers club. Of course, my mother answer was you got to be kidding.
What did I know, I was only a teenager.

Haven't watched the show,

Haven't watched the show, but ... fashion and music in the '70s? I was there, and it wasn't that great. Guys wearing white bell-bottom pants and earth shoes is an image I'd just as soon forget.

Not long after I moved into

Not long after I moved into my post-divorce house in Indiana, I was taking my dog for a walk and a really cute house a couple streets over had a little sign by the door that said "The Swingers." I wasn't sure if that was the family's name or their walk of life.

Not long after that, I started going to a new church and I met "The Swingers," an older couple, both of whom were heavily involved in the various programs there. I felt bad for having such thoughts about them before I met them. I'm afraid to watch the show, though, because Mr. Swinger had a 1970s kind of haircut and I don't want to think about that again if there's a character that looks like him.

Embarrassment loves company!

Embarrassment loves company! I, too, have been watching "Swingtown" and I think I'm kinda liking it - especially since Thursday night viewing hasn't been the same for me since "Knots Landing" went off the air.

It's definitely made me think back to my formative years in the 1970s - perhaps when I was getting all those babysitting calls it was because my hometown neighbors were out "swinging!"

Unlike Melissa, I LOVE the commercials. I'm retro all the way, baby!!

I was too embarrassed to

I was too embarrassed to mention I've been watching "Swingtown!" It's funny, cheesy and a little creepy. I can't imagine today's helicopter parents letting their kids run around town while the adults canoodle by the pool.

One thing that struck me about those party scenes, besides the racy stuff, is the sense of community. Do people have big neighborhood parties any more?

One thing I can't stand about "Swingtown" is all the really bad 70s-themed commercials that run during it.

Thanks to the DVR and a busy schedule, I am 4 or 5 episodes behind on Dexter. If the rain keeps up, I may get a chance to watch a couple tonight - so don't tell me what happens!

I haven't seen anything

I haven't seen anything about CBS picking up "Dexter" for an additional run on the network although the trend seems to be a sharing of material between the networks and their cable siblings. The third season of "Dexter" starts this autumn on Showtime and after the first season wrapped last night, we can hope that the second season airs next year for those of us who aren't willing to fork over the cash for Showtime.

Caught Dexter for the first

Caught Dexter for the first time this past week. He's a serial killer? OK, now it's starting to make sense! (In any case, I enjoyed the writing and dark approach, even though I'm a little behind on the plot line.) I seem to recall the network broadcast making a mention of Showtime -- do you happen to know if CBS will be airing more episodes, or is the show moving back to cable TV?

Oh man, I really like Dexter

Oh man, I really like Dexter and I wish I didn't. It's so wrong. I should not be rooting for a serial killer. But Michael C. Hall plays a really intriguing character. I also feel bad about liking Breaking Bad on AMC, which also produces my beloved drama Mad Men. As a responsible adult, I like watching these shows but it scares me to think of kids or less healthy people watching this stuff.

Britney was a decent guest

Britney was a decent guest star. She played the innocent receptionist falling for what's his name/tall guy/future father portion of HIMYM. I thought the final joke was funny, in which Barney and Britney hook up, but it wasn't in keeping with Britney's character. The writers just wanted to degrade Britney. OMG, am I a secret Britney fan?

I wouldn't say that Spears grew up in the wrong part of the country. I just think she'd fit in better in the Apalachian region.

Britney should come to Minnesota as some sort of a cultural exchange student. She can be kooky as long as she works hard and doesn't dis the hotdish. I can totally see her living in Milaca near my brother, racing a four-wheeler down the dirt roads. Really, she just grew up in the wrong part of the country.

Go Gladiators!!! I love the cheese factor of the show. What it lacks in plot, it makes up for with the resurgence of the Hulkster!

Oh man, I totally have to 'fess up to watching Gladiators! Reading this post makes me feel about 25% bad for being a part of the idiotic masses that watch this drivel. The other 75% of me says "who cares, it gives me flashbacks to Saturday mornings of my childhood and makes me laugh really hard." I mean, I know that the spandex, rippling muscles, and Hulk Hogan's horribly scripted commentary are beyond ridiculous. But this is what makes it hilariously fun for me to watch! Long live Gladiators! (Er, at least long enough to last until real television comes on again.)
