My title isn't really a good indicator but I'm actually quite good at turning a phrase. There are times, though, that being blatant or straight-forward is best. Simplicity has its own elegance I guess.
I recently applied to St. Thomas University and was rejected. So now I'm somewhat dejected and probably another form of 'jected' if one exists. Who would think that they would turn someone down who had average grades and took forever to get a two-year degree?
Yes, I'm going through the phase of getting down on myself for not better applying my talents and smarts towards school. Not to mention not really planning out a solid college path. but I'm trying to move into the stage where I figure out where to go from here.
Are there other schools? Other majors? Should I go back to what I wanted to do or stay with my newfound passion (is it newfound if it's a few years old already?).
Anybody have advice? Same kind of experience, maybe? Let's share.

I’ve been rejected by colleges, companies, boyfriends. But it always turned out to be the right thing for me. I love my husband, job and educational experience.
I don’t mean to be Zen but if it’s meant to be then it will be. If you really love St. Thomas talk to a guidance counselor. Find out how you can improve your application or test scores.
Also, consider why you applied to St. Thomas in the first place. Can other schools meet those needs? What academic degree/opportunities/career do you hope to gain from attending a university?
When I was growing up I wanted to attend a private, expensive liberal arts college. Instead, I attended two community colleges and graduated from St. Cloud State University with my bachelor’s degree. I also wanted to be a ballerina. That never panned out. But heck, it’s never too late to reach for your dreams.
I took an adult ballet class several years ago and was truly no good at dancing. But at least I got to wear a leotard, ballet slippers and a bun in my hair for a few months. And now I’m working on my master’s degree at Hamline University. Did you know that Hamline is Minnesota’s first university, founded in 1854?
So don’t give up on yourself Adam. You’re good enough, smart enough, and gosh darnit, we like you.
