I never thought I'd write those two names and have something good to say about the has-been songstress but when I heard about the former mousekateer appearing on a legitimate TV show I was amused. Or maybe impressed. Mostly curious. But somewhat depressed too.

See, Britney Spears brings about a mixed bag of emotions for me. Her life seemed so full of potential when she burst on to the scene in 1998 sporting her too-short schoolgirl outfit. She could have single-handedly made the world a better place. It turns out that the next two years would be the rise and peak of her career and the eight years that followed would be the most tragic of trainwrecks. She actually made the world a much worse place -- solely because of Britney & Kevin: Chaotic.

Well, let's fast-forward to today. Britney Spears has a new album which I'd rather not admit to hearing and a life that, according to trashy television shows such as TMZ, is a mess of epic proportions. According to the National Enquirer which I perused while purchasing groceries, she has even had an abortion which caused her creepy facial hair sporting maybe-boyfriend to split.

But all is not crumbling for Spears.

The rumors are confirmed as facts that Britney Spears will appear in the 14th episode (March 24th, 2008) of CBS Monday night comedy How I Met Your Mother. Even more important, though, is the fact that Sarah Chalke (Scrubs, Roseanne) will also appear on the very same episode.

Of even greater importance, HIMYM returns from its writer's strike-imposed hiatus on Monday, March 17th. The cast of guest stars alone makes the show worth watching but its story line, along with great characters and impressive writing, seals the deal.
