Over the past weekend, I became an addict. No, I won't be needing weekly meetings but it saddens me how weak my resolve becomes when options are few.
My new found addiction is Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel. I caught most of the past three seasons which chronicles the adventures of a group of crabbing boats on the Bering Sea off the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.
I first got sucked in last week while watching a behind the scenes feature on how the documentary-style filmmakers capture what is becoming increasingly stunning footage aboard up to six fishing boats.
The subject amtter sounds fairly mundane but with some good editing and creative cameramen, even the lifestyle of groups of fishermen is exciting.
The new season starts Tuesday (April 15th) at 8 PM and features the narrative stylings of the working man's hero, Mike Rowe. I'll watch it because Tuesday nights on TV are a vast wasteland. Is it worth watching to you or is there something better to veg out to on Tuesday evenings?

Check out "Survivorman" -- that's another fun one. The show's tag points to the macho audience it targets, but it's a fun watch nonetheless: "No food, no shelter, no fresh water, no tools ... no camera crew. One man - alone in the wilderness for seven days."
This crazy guy tapes himself out in the wild. Love it.
