Summer isn't a time normally known for new episodes of anything scripted. Unless it's the scraps of a TV show that tanked so spectacularly during the regular season that it didn't deserve a timeslot during the months where most Americans are holed up, fearful of frostbite.

However, as the television landscaped has changed, new episodes are seen year around. Of course this phenomenon, pertainig at least to scripted series, is a strictly cable phenomenon.

I am impressed with the efforts of TBS. It used to be the home of nothing but long-forgotten network repeats and episodes of "Mama's Family" but in the past five or so years they have stepped up to bat and hit one out of the park.

My favorite TBS sitcom has to be "My Boys" which is now in its third season. It is centered around the life of a late 20-something sports writer in Chicago and her group of male friends (the exception being her sole female friend who is an outcast because she doesn't paly poker).

"My Boys" isn't a laugh-out-loud sitcom full of wacky and off-the-wall situations and witty dialogue but it is a rather genuine-feeling show that features some terribly awkward situations that evolve quickly into well-written jokes that easily stand on their own.

Take a chance if you find yourself near a TV on Monday evenings at 9 PM central time. TBS has brought the funny once again.
