Even though last week was officially premiere week on the big television networks, there are still a handful of shows trickling out that are worthy of attention.
Attention, though, isn't always good.
ABC rolls out two clunkers that should have been kept in the darkest corners of their sitcom garage.
First off, an entire series based on the cavemen characters from the Geico insurance commercials cleverly titled "Cavemen". I hope that somebody carted off buckets of cash for this horrendous premise because anyone who thought that this show would be a huge success deserves to be taken for a ride. The original pilot had circulated on the internet for a few months prior to tonight's premiere and due to the negative publicity and reviews, ABC apparently recasted the show and tonight's episode has never been seen -- even by those who review television for a living. ABC needs to know that you can put pearls on a pig but it's still a pig.
The second clunker is the aptly titled "Carpoolers". The most to-the-point description is that the show details the hilarious foibles of a group of four friends who -- get this -- carpool to work. Try to stifle your laughter... because this gem of a show also features Faith Ford. Yes, that Faith Ford. The one who co-starred with Kelly Ripa on another ABC gem, "Hope and Faith".
It seems like ABC is rolling out these two stinkers simply to prove to America that they, as a network, are incapable of producing comedies. It has no redeeming qualities and is comedy of the lowest common denominator because if we can't laugh at a woman who drinks too much cough syrup and ends up in situations that seem to be ripped form the pages of "The Onion" then all hope is lost.
My recommendation is this: save your time and pick up a DVD copy of "The Sarah Silverman Program" whose first too short season of six episodes was released today.

I agree. Sarah Silverman is hilarious. She is so uncomfortably inappropriate that I'm usually just a little bit ashamed to be laughing, but that doesn't mean it's not funny. The same goes for "Always Sunny" and "South Park". I usually find myself belly laughing outloud and then questioning my moral fiber when I'm all done. Now that's brilliant.

I like your moral fiber jennyjean4. Did you see the episode when Sarah decided she was a lesbian? She wore a mullet wig, a flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off and sang a faux Indigo Girls song. So dang funny and so inappropriate. Isn't that the definition of good comedy? I think that's why I love comedians like Dave Chapelle. It's like, wait he can't say that. But he just did.
