Two things I suggest checking out this weekend

If the weather holds up, there are a couple great events going on in the Twin Cities this weekend.
For you beer lovers out there, the City Pages Beer Festival takes place on Saturday, June 2, from 5 to 9 p.m. outside Calhoun Square on Hennepin Avenue in Uptown.
The beer festival is in its 15th year. It is one of the biggest beer festivals in the upper Midwest.
The festival features over 100 different beers, music and food.
Advance tickets cost $25, and are available through Ticketmaster (if you want to pay a large service fee) or MGM liquor stores in Calhoun Village, Plymouth and Minnetonka.
Tickets cost $28 at the door. Admission includes beer samples.
A designated driver ticket costs $8 (What? That’s absurd.).
Another GRAND event this weekend is St. Paul’s Grand Old Days Festival on Grand Avenue. (One of my favorite days of the year.)
The parade starts at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 3, and the street party lasts until 5p.m., before the crowds disperse from the street and into the neighborhood bars.
This year’s celebration has two new attractions, an art fair that will take place between Dale and St. Albans streets and Grand Avenue street performers.
For a schedule of the festival events and times check out this link, www.grandave.com/grandoldday/schedule.php.
If you haven’t been to Grand Old Days, I highly suggest checking it out.
But be warned, if you don’t like massive crowds, Grand Old Days may not be the place for you. It is the largest one-day festival in the Midwest.
If the sun is shining, bring your sunscreen. Regardless the weather, bring your walking shoes and a tolerance for belligerent people.
If you choose to go to either of these events, have fun and be safe.
